Run4Hope Race Director David Johndrow has worked tirelessly over the past 2 1/2 years helping raise money for Hope For Young Adults With Cancer.
David hosted & ran the Run Across Massachusetts along with veteran endurance runner David Salvas 60-miles traversing the state of Massachusetts from north to south raising over $1,500.
Over 4 years ago, David had congestive heart failure and was in the ICU for a week. Since then, he has lost almost 80 pounds & completed 52 races including 4 full (26.2 mile) marathons and is preparing to run the prestigious Boston Marathon for the second year in a row.
Through all of this as well, over a year ago David was diagnosed with Melanoma. He has had 5 surgeries to remove 4 types of foreign cells while living on the mountain tops between the valleys of checkups, exams and biopsies.
His cancer is being treated and monitored, but for now it’s still there. He has vowed that he is not going to lay on another operating room thinking that he missed the best years of my life.

“Running has given me a life I could only pray for years ago. I feel good, I look good for my age and I sleep well too. Emotionally I feel really good. For the time being – maybe a long time, I plan on running 50 races in 50 states as well as 7 marathons on 7 continents. It’s going to take some time.”
David’s selfless dedication to raise money for charity while continuing to be an inspiration to so many runners and individuals should not go unnoticed.
Last but not least, David is the “Founder & King” of The Pathetic Runners Group on Facebook, a group of runners who can laugh at themselves, love running and are not easily offended. Their credo is “We’ve all had a pathetic moment in our running. We’ve had an untied running shoe, a shirt on backwards, a blister, an injury or and “only a runner would think this is funny” moment.”
Thank you David for being such an inspiration to others and we are lucky to have you representing Hope For Young Adults With Cancer.
